BUYER'S GUIDE

Buying a Rotisserie Oven? Here’s What You Need to Know

Finding the best rotisserie oven for your kitchen is easy if you know a little about rotisserie machines.

A rotisserie oven rotates food, heating it evenly as it cooks. Most often used to cook chicken, a commercial rotisserie machine can also cook beef, pork, fish, vegetables, and even pastries. Floor-length rotisserie ovens are available, but countertop versions are more common.

Rotisserie chicken ovens cook an average-sized chicken (3.5 lbs) in one or two hours. Countertop rotisserie ovens can cook 6 to 15 chickens at a time, while a large floor rotisserie machine typically has a capacity of 36 chickens.

Chefs’ Toys stocks reliable rotisserie cookers from some of the best brands in the industry:

Alto-Shaam offers high-volume countertop rotisserie machines and floor units.
Equipex makes high-quality countertop rotisserie ovens capable of cooking 6 to 12 chickens.
Vollrath provides some of the best countertop rotisseries on the market, with capacities of 8 to 15 chickens.

Most rotisserie ovens use horizontal spits, allowing meat and chicken to self-bast in their drippings for a golden, crisp surface and juicy meat. Horizontal spits also support rotisserie baskets, allowing you to cook vegetables and fish in the oven.

Vertical rotisserie machines use gravity to drain drippings away from products, which fall into a drip pan at the bottom of the oven. Shawarma and al pastor are well-suited to vertical rotisseries.
