TriMark Consolidates its E-Commerce Platforms

TriMark USA has merged its two e-commerce platforms, ChefsToys.com and BigTray.com, into one unit. Both will now go to market as ChefsToys.com.

Chefs’ Toys traces its roots back to Southern California in 1988 where it opened as a chef-founded knife sharpening company and smallwares supplies truck. The company grew from there to become the 24th largest foodservice equipment and supplies dealer in the country, per FE&S’ 2017 Distribution Giants Study. In March of 2018 TriMark acquired Chefs’ Toys.

In addition to its e-commerce platform, Chefs’ Toys operates 12 brick-and-mortar retail stores spanning from San Diego to Sacramento, Calif. In February of this year, TriMark opened two more Chefs’ Toys locations.

Economy Restaurant Fixtures, a San Francisco area foodservice equipment and supplies dealer, formed BigTray in 1999. Big Tray was one of the country’s first online foodservice equipment and supplies dealers. When TriMark acquired Economy in 2008 Big Tray was part of the deal.
