Our Story

From our humble beginnings in 1988 as a chef-founded knife sharpening company to present day, Chefs’ Toys has focused on building lasting relationships, with customers, suppliers, and our terrific employees. This approach to business is the foundation of our success as the largest Restaurant Equipment and Supplies dealer in southern California and one of the fastest growing in the country. Our Founder Steve Dickler received the Dealer Achiever Award in 2016 at the National Restaurant Show, one of the greatest honors in our industry.

We are constantly looking at bringing in and testing new products to serve our customers’ needs so you can feel confident that when you buy a product from Chefs’ Toys that they’re vetted, tested, and will meet your expectations. With the acquisition of Michael Blackman & Associates in 2016, Chefs’ Toys beefed up its talent pool for consulting and design. As a result, we offer complete design services for restaurants, commercial kitchens and bars. From front of house to the most complex kitchen design requirements, equipment installation, and foodservice supplies fulfillment, our staff provides turnkey solutions for the foodservice industry. Although our roots are firmly planted in southern California, our customer base continues to expand nationally.

    Steve Dickler, former Chef, sees a need for professional knife sharpening, AccuSharp starts.

    Mobile Tools & Sharpening
    First Chefs’ Toys truck hits the road. He models the truck after a Snap-On tool truck selling smallwares.

    Chef Equipment Distribution
    Mike Krepistman, 25 year veteran of the S.E Rykoff Company, leaves to start equipment distributorship, called Advantage Food Services Equipment Company.

    Brick & Mortor Store
    Steve opens up brick and mortar cash and carry store in Irvine, California.

    Chefs’ Toys Advantage
    Mike and Steve merge and form the new company Chefs’ Toys Advantage offering tabletop and large equipment.

  • 2005

    New Store Front
    Chef’s Toys relocates to Main Street in Santa Ana, California. A larger location to accommodate the growing sales and customer base. The new store is 13,000 sq ft.

    Flagship Store
    Chefs’ Toys relocates to the present 34,000 sq ft. flagship mega-store in Fountain Valley, California. Chefs’ Toys starts to explode.

    South Bay Location
    Chefs’ Toys opens their first ever expansion location in Torrance, California, to reach the growing customer base in the South Bay and LAX regions.

    Anaheim Store & Warehouse
    Chefs’ Toys opens their third store in Anaheim, California. to serve the Disneyland tourist areas and Inland Empire.
    Star Restaurant Supply Acquired
    Chefs’ Toys completes it’s acquisition of the famed Star Restaurant Supply in Van Nuys, California, a foodservice equipment institution since 1947, catering to chefs and stars alike.

    Los Angeles Store
    Chefs’ Toys opens in West Los Angeles to serve the very hot LA restaurant market.

    Inland Empire Expansion
    Chefs’ Toys finds their sixth location in the city of Corona, California.
    State of the Art Distribution Center
    Chefs’ Toys opens their state of the art distribution center. This 44,000 sq ft center handles distribution and logistics for all it’s stores.
    Design Firm Acquired
    Chefs’ Toys acquires Michael Blackman & Associates, commercial kitchen design firm.

    Foodservice Equipment & Supply magazine gives Steve one of the best national honors in our industry: Top Dealer Achiever Award for 2016.
    San Diego Expansion
    Chefs’ Toys opens its 7th warehouse store in Miramar serving the San Diego market.
    Chefs’ Toys Rebrands
    Chefs’ Toys updates its branding and launches its new website chefstoys.com to better serve its customers.
